I dig me some ole’ Hank Jr., n a whole lotta Chris LeDoux

I’m out here living simple in a life I don’t regret

headed straight to the pearly gates, I’m as down-home as you get

 

     Rockin’ that Wal Mart camo, with a coon dog by my side

     I’d rather be wearin’ my work boots, than a buttoned up suite and tie

     After a day of hard work, I’m right back in the mud

     I’m firin’ up my 4 wheeler, for some good clean country fun

 

          You’ll see me in my pickup, takin ole Blue to town

          From Monday morning to Saturday night, I’m chasin’ a good time down

          You can have your high-priced scholars, n dirtied-up downtown dollars

               The only life I’ve come to respect, is

               Livin’ it -- straight-up --  Redneck

 

Out here in the wild wide open, the sun shines on your face

Ain’t no hi-rise buildings blocking out the Lord’s good grace

I do my chores in the mornings, to save my afternoons

For a hot sunny run to the water, skinny dippin’ with Mary Lou

 

     The biggest news in our town is a brand new Dairy Queen

     They’er puttin’ in a flashing red light where the four-way used to be

     I’m takin my boat out later, tryin’ to hook a trophie bass

     I like doin’ my living, where the world don’t turn so fast
